📝 The best group intention setting exercise
Do this simple exercise with family, friends, colleagues, or your co-founder(s) to create your best year yet
Every year, I take off between XMAS and my birthday.
These 3 weeks of freedom are one of my favorite things about how I have created my career.
I clear my calendar from calls so that I have no deadlines or obligations. I let myself do whatever I want. I move from XMAS to NYE to my BDAY in a high vibe. I build up my desire to go back to work that I can’t wait to serve my clients.
While I do spend a lot of time adventuring, reading, relaxing, and being with my people, the true cornerstone of this vacation is having time to check in with myself, get super clear about what I want, and write it down.
This practice is one of the MOST important things I do in my business.
It is hard to create the next thing you want in your personal or professional life if you’re not clear about what you really desire.
Most of the leaders I work with are in big jobs with a lot of demands on them or running companies. It can feel like they’re moving a million miles a minute with no time to slow down.
Our coaching sessions together facilitate them pausing, getting clear about what they want, and then taking steps to action it so that life / work doesn’t just happen to them.
They are creating what they want to see in the world.
This year, I have experimented with doing visioning work by myself, with my family, and with friends.
The visioning exercises I did in groups were by far the most powerful. So much so that I wanted to share the practice with you.
There is something very powerful about being witnessed by a group.
I see this with my clients all the time. It is so rare that we claim our desires. It is so rare that we voice them to other people.
Doing so can feel really scary and vulnerable and yet sharing what you want with the people you are building your life and career with is one of the best accelerators for making it your reality.
I suggest doing this exercise with a minimum of 2 people and a max of 6 people.
If you would like me to facilitate you and some friends or colleagues in doing this exercise, I offer a workshop around that. It’s also an extremely good idea to do this with your Co-Founder(s) or significant other to make sure that you are aligned around what’s next. Shoot me an email back for the workshop details.
So without further ado, here’s my favorite intention setting exercise:
