Holding your vision.... no matter what
Being a visionary is staying strong even when it feels impossible
The hardest part of being a visionary leader is believing in your vision no matter what.
I feel this for my clients, I feel this for myself.
Holding a vision for food system transformation is a lot.
It requires carving your own path. Dreaming big. Having delusional confidence. Showing up consistently. Blocking out the haters.
And some days I even feel like giving up.
I’ve heard it said that the biggest mistake most people make is giving up right before they reach the finish line.
Often it’s because we can’t see the finish line.
Lack of clarity seeds doubt and fear. It’s easier to turn around and give up rather than hold the faith that the clearing is right ahead.
During March, I felt extremely tested in holding my faith and vision for myself, my business, and the change I want to see in the world.
I felt tired of pushing. Tired of being strong. I just wanted things to work already!
I moved through a lot of frustration, anger, angst, and sadness.
During this time, I was actually letting go of old stories about who I am as a leader and what is possible in my life so that new, more positive beliefs could be born.
I was upgrading ✨
And I had to majorly lean on my support system of friends, families, mentors, coaches, teachers, and colleagues to help me hold the vision so that I didn’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
Thank goodness for them.
2 weeks after feeling like giving up, I’m now on the other side and so many major wins have come through.
Like so many. It’s miraculously unreal.
It all goes to show that my job - and your job - as transformational leaders is to keep showing up.
It’s to surround yourself with the right people who support you when the going gets tough.
It’s trusting that the universe has your back
❤️ And that it’s gonna happen… when it’s supposed to happen
